F1: Bahrain practices... Villeneuve 20th and 17th in first sessions. Ferrari coming alive?: "Alexander Wurz posted the fastest lap in the opening two practices for this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix while Michael Schumacher gave a hint of the new Ferrari's power on Friday.

Despite not fitting comfortably in the McLaren MP4-20, Wurz set a top lap of 1:30.695, finishing ahead of Renault driver Fernando Alonso in the second session. Red Bull rookie Vitantonio Liuzzi was third quickest followed by Pedro de la Rosa in the McLaren, substituting for the injured Juan Pablo Montoya.

Michael Schumacher rounded out the top five in the new F2005, posting a time that was just 1.7 seconds off the pace set by Wurz. In the morning practice, Schumacher was second fastest, just a half second behind Ricardo Zonta after completing just a handful of laps. The reigning world champion locked up the tires on several occassions around the sandy circuit, as did several other drivers who ventured off course. "
