Vote McIntosh!

By Stuart Morrison
VANCOUVER, BC – Canada’s leading motorsport personalities and their respective 2004 accomplishments are set to be recognized as the May edition of the nation’s premier motorsport publication, Inside Track, has just announced the nominees for the third annual Inside Track Readers’ Choice Awards presented by Castrol.

Sean McIntosh’s impressive performances in the 2004 Formula Renault UK Championship have not gone unnoticed as the 19-year-old Vancouver resident finds himself nominated in the ‘Up and Coming Road Racer of the Year’ category.
On his nomination Sean commented: “I think it’s great that Inside Track allows their readers an opportunity to recognize Canada’s top motorsport personalities and vote, not only for the established guys, but also the younger talents coming up through the ranks on both two wheels and four! As a nation we have a reputation for producing world-class talent and I think the Readers’ Choice Awards gives everyone who’s nominated a further boost as we’ve all had to achieve something significant in the past year just to make the ballot!”

McIntosh’s 2004 achievements followed a switch to European competition with Team Firstair and the ultra-competitive Formula Renault UK Championship. Against a 35-plus field of strong talent, many with several seasons of UK competition behind them, Sean captured the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title, known as the ‘Graduate Cup’ Championship. He also became the first Canadian to ever win a UK Formula Renault race in the process. His victory, along with several podium finishes, powered him to the rookie title and an impressive sixth overall in the championship standings.

A dominant victory in the second round of the 2005 Formula Renault UK Championship underlined Sean’s status as a title contender as the new season kicked off at Donington Park two weeks ago.
