SOS: SOS POISED TO LAUNCH 10TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON!

The Southern Ontario Sprints are set to launch their 10th Anniversary season in just over a week, that is, if the ‘rain-man’ stays away long enough. The first event on the 2005 calendar will be the traditional season-opener race at Brighton Speedway on May 7th. A total of 16 points races at 4 different tracks have been scheduled. The season wrap-up in mid-September will see the SOS host an invitational on the Friday night followed by the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals (SOS/SOD/ESS/PSG are affiliate sponsors for this event) on Saturday, both at Ohsweken Speedway. This weekend will no doubt be the biggest weekend of sprint car racing ever staged in Canada.

Club president Peter Turford, along with all the SOS members and drivers are also very excited about the addition of several new sponsors to the growing list of supporters for the 2005 season. Returning this year are: Pennzoil, Signet Tool Inc., Wiseco Pistons, Leaf Racewear, Kenetic Photos, B&B Oval Track Products, and BS&B Radiator. Joining the SOS family of sponsors for 2005 are: Brodix Cylinder Heads, Grisdale Racing Products, Winters Performance Products and Inside Canadian Racing. The SOS extends a very special welcome to all the supporters for the 10th Anniversary season.

As for the competitors, it looks like the SOS will once again have a very strong field of cars for all events. Car counts are expected to increase over last years’ record breaking season with some strong new rookies being added to an already healthy field of veterans. Unfortunately for the SOS, the 2004 Champion Cody Geldart will likely not make any SOS events in 2005. He will be pursuing his dreams racing with the All Stars as well as some World of Outlaw events in the US for 2005. The SOS wishes him all the success he is due and encourages all the fans to keep an eye on Cody’s progress by logging on to the SOS Web Site, www.southernontariosprints.com and click on the ‘Code Watch’ link where his results will be posted.

If you have not attended an SOS event, we encourage you to do so as the action is always fast and furious and the 10th Anniversary tour will definitely live up to all your expectations.
