DELAWARE: SATURDAY’S RACING CANCELLED

APC Enduro 250 race still on for Sunday, May 1, 2005

Delaware, ON (April 29, 2005): Delaware Speedway’s racing program for Saturday, April 30, 2005 has been cancelled. The APC Enduro 250 race scheduled for Sunday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m. is still on as scheduled.

Saturday’s cancellation is due to inclement weather that is forecast to enter the area overnight and remain through most of the day Saturday. A weather system moving into the area is expected to bring rain and unseasonably cold temperatures throughout much of Southwestern Ontario on Saturday.

“It’s unfortunate to have to make this decision two weeks in a row,” said Delaware Speedway General Manager Kevin Bulmer. “But with so many of our competitors, sponsors and fans coming from a long way out-of-town, and the forecast as bleak as it is, we feel it’s the only fair decision to make. We’ve had our eyes on every forecast we can find and have consulted with our local meteorologists, and they all say the same thing: it’s going to be a cold, wet, miserable day on Saturday.”

The first weekly racing of the 2005 season will take place on Friday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m., with the lineup to include the Cintas Late Models, Kendall Motor Oil Street Stocks, Challenger Motor Freight Trucks and a King of the Hill spectator’s race.

There are not yet any confirmed plans to re-schedule any of the weekly races lost to weather over the last two weeks. “We’d like to at least get the first races completed before we start shuffling the schedule all around, if at all,” said Bulmer. “When we get our competitors to the track we will discuss that together.”

unday’s APC Enduro 250 race ( which was originally scheduled to run last week, on Sunday, April 24, but was postponed due to steady rain and wet snow) is still on as scheduled.

“As far as Sunday’s race is concerned, we’ll re-evaluate the situation on Saturday, and possibly Sunday morning, to see if we’ll have enough of a window in the weather to get that event in,” said Bulmer. “For now, we ask all competitors, staff, fans and sponsors to consider Sunday’s race on as scheduled.”
Spectator gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and the race will start at 2:00 p.m.
