DIRT: Tracks Listed For Division Bonus Points Towards Mr. DIRT Championship

By Tom Skibinski / DIRT MotorSports PR

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – Race teams vying for the overall 2005 Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Championship in four touring divisions will have a number of hometracks to choose from in search of bonus points towards the coveted title.

While all Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series events and the best-five feature finishes at a driver's home track will determine the overall big-block Modified champion,
contenders in the 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock divisions will also need hometrack bonus points in their respective title quest. In addition, regional bonus points are also included for Sportsman and Pro Stock competitors.

Of the 26 DIRT MotorSports™ member tracks registered this season, only the following may serve as hometracks at which valuable points can be earned through Labor Day. And while each of the tracks listed below is DIRT-sanctioned, only those divisions specified by the individual track promoter may award bonus points in 2005.

DIRT Modified (10): Albany-Saratoga (NY) Speedway, Brewerton (NY) Speedway, Can-Am (NY) Motorsports Park, Canandaigua (NY) Speedway, Cayuga County Fair (NY) Speedway, Fulton (NY) Speedway, Lebanon Valley (NY) Speedway, Lernerville (PA) Speedway, Rolling Wheels (NY) Raceway and Tri-City (PA) Speedway.

DIRT 358-Modified (10): Bridgeport (NJ) Speedway, Brockville Ontario Speedway, Cornwall Motor (ONT) Speedway, Autodrome Drummond (QUE), Autodrome Edelweiss (QUE), Frogtown Int'l (NY) Speedway, Fulton, Autodrome Granby (QUE), Merrittville (ONT) Speedway and Ransomville (NY) Speedway; plus Canandaigua and Cayuga County if both have at least 10 drivers compete in 50% of the combined big-block/small-block races run (see DIRT Rule Book: Points 12.7).

DIRT Sportsman (10): Brockville, Canandaigua, Cayuga County, Fulton, Genesee Speedway, Humberstone (ONT) Speedway, Merrittville, Ohsweken (ONT) Speedway and Ransomville.

DIRT Pro Stock (8): Canandaigua, Cornwall, Edelweiss, Frogtown, Fulton, Genesee, Lebanon Valley, Ransomville.

Canandaigua, Cayuga County, Can-Am, Humberstone, New Egypt (NJ) Speedway, Ohsweken and Thunder Alley (NY) Speedpark also sanction Street Stock racing and follow the same procedural rules although no overall championship exists for this entry-level full-fender division.

As noted in Procedural Rules 9.1 and 9.2 in the Official 2005 DIRT MotorSports™ Rule Books, drivers that compete at non-DIRT sanctioned tracks are subject to loss of points and handicapping at all DIRT tracks. Additionally, any driver that competes at a non-DIRT sanctioned event on the same day as a Super DIRT Series event will lose all points and not be eligible for any post-season DIRT awards.

Questions regarding track sanctioning or the Mr. DIRT points format implemented by DIRT MotorSports™ in 2005 can be directed to DIRT NorthEast Competition Director Chip Burdick or NorthEast Chief Points Keeper and Head Scorer Gary Spaid at the Weedsport, New York office (315/834-6606).
