BARRIE SPEEDWAY: Season gets rolling this Saturday night

Welcome to Barrie Speedway: "Season gets rolling this Saturday night!

After last weekend's washout, the long anticipated debut of the new tri-oval goes this Saturday night at Barrie Speedway. The weather looks much more promising this weekend, and the track and facilities are in fine shape and ready for action.

All of last season's champion are returning - John Gaunt will defend his Late Model title with 2005 Thunder Car champ Steve Penny joining him in the Late Model division. Pure Stock champ Dave Doucette has also moved up as he'll run a full Thunder Car schedule in 2005.

The great weather has really helped out as Brad Moran and his team get everything ready for the season opener. The light standards were going back up this week, the billboards were being hung and the crews were busily painting everything in site. A new section has been added near the tri-oval doe lawn chairs - a great improvement with so many fans bringing their own seats to the track! As always, not to worry if the weather cools -- the heated grandstands will keep everybody comfortable.

The pits open a little earlier this Saturday at 2pm to give everyone extra time. The spectator gates open at 5:30 with the green flag in the air at 7pm. See you there! "
