BRIGHTON SPEEDWAY PARK: Season Set to Start

From Brenda Whitehead

BRIGHTON, ON – Motor sports and stock car racing aren’t just about the fast cars. The family atmosphere, the competition, activities for kids and special events make every race night an adventure for every one. The schedule has been set and the green flag is poised to drop, signifying the beginning of Brighton Speedway’s 35th Season, and the 25th Anniversary for owners Lou and Diane Rinaldi.

A longer race season, more special events, increased car counts, and an impressive lineup of activities for the kids is sure to maintain the 67% increase in spectator attendance during the 2004 season. Brighton Speedway Manager Mark Rinaldi is positive that his staff team has created a program that is sure to bring about further growth for local grassroots racing.
“By enhancing the favourites like Sprint Cars, School Busses and the Coca-Cola Kids’ Club activities and adding new programs, like the New York Mini-Sprints, Lawn Mowers, Dirt Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsmans we are sure that anyone who enjoys the races will find something they like at Brighton Speedway.”

Changes to the facility in 2004 included new washrooms for the ladies, fencing, and a facelift for all of the buildings. Already in 2005 there have been improvements to the grand stands, additional fencing, extra lighting in the pits and the beginning of VIP booths at the 4th corner. “We really are committed to making every Saturday night a pleasant and memorable experience for ever member of the family. We are looking forward to the 32 events and the facility changes, and believe that all fans will be impressed with the 2005 season,” said Maria Morris, Operations Manager. “We hope that locals and visitors alike will make sure and stop by any Saturday night until September 24th.”

The first chance to experience racing is the Season Opener, April 30th. Admission is $2.00 with a donation to the local food bank. The first 100 kids to sign up get a FREE package for the Coca-Cola Kids’ Club. Mark it on your calendar, and bring the whole family as the 1/3 mile clay oval heats up with action. Racin’ on Dirt, as it should be…..
