GP OF EDMONTON: Sid Priddle named event media manager

EDMONTON – April 21, 2005 – Organizers of the inaugural Grand Prix of Edmonton, which will feature the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, announced today that they have selected veteran Canadian public relations specialist Sid Priddle to spearhead public and media relations initiatives for the event which is scheduled to take place from July 15-17.

Priddle, who has more than 30 years of experience in providing strategic public and media relations’ counsel to an international roster of corporations and event-marketing clients, was the Director of Communications for the first 10 years of the Molson Indy Toronto (1986-1996).

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Sid to the Grand Prix of Edmonton,” said Greg Macdonald, President and General Manager of the event. “Our team is made up of some of the most skilled event and motorsports professionals in North America, all of whom play integral roles in ensuring the success of the Grand Prix. Sid’s event and public relations experience will be an asset to our organization.”

Recognized throughout the motorsports industry as outstanding media relations’ strategist and tactician, Priddle also led the public relations effort for Brown & Williamson Tobacco’s KOOL Champ Car sponsorship program from 1997 to 2002.

Since 2003 Priddle, who resides in Innisfil, Ontario has focused his energies on the development of Priddle & Associates, an international network of independent public relations consultants who provide a wide variety of public relations counsel and services to motorsports, sports and entertainment and corporate clients.

“I look forward to assisting Greg MacDonald and his partners in the development and execution of this inaugural Grand Prix of Edmonton,” said Priddle. “This event is an opportunity to showcase the city of Edmonton as well as western Canada to race fans worldwide. It is our goal to ensure that the Grand Prix of Edmonton is recognized as one of the premier events on the Champ Car World Series calendar.”

The Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford features Canadian racing stars Canadians Paul Tracy and Alex Tagliani, as well as rookie Andrew Ranger. Also competing are 2004 Series Champion Sebastien Bourdais and Bruno Junqueira who compete for Newman Haas Racing, co-owned by legendary film star, Paul Newman.

The Grand Prix of Edmonton will take place from July 15 to 17 at the Finning International Speedway, located at Edmonton City Centre Airport. A 1.96-mile temporary road course will be constructed using the airport’s runway network.
