Satisfy Your Need For Speed With OSCAAR At Mosport Speedway!

By Don McLeod // June 22, 2006

Mosport Speedway is next on the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model schedule with speed as the feature of the day. In past years the top cars were clocked at 110+ mph. It will be interesting to see the speeds of the top running cars after the tire and engine rule changes introduced prior to the 2006 season. While it can be expected that Teams 61 and 49 will deliver on speed, there will be some serious competition in 2006 from amongst teams 15, 22, 52, 62 and 89 based on recent performance.

The race at Barrie was a great start to the season after rain plagued the first two regularly scheduled events. It is early in the year for detailed analysis of the standings, but John Fletcher's JNE Consulting #61 team and Rob Clarke's London Mechanical Plumbing & Heating #49 team definitely started out of the gate as expected.

Rounding out the top five in the standings are Al Shepstone's Shepstone Haulage #15, Drew Spicer's Spicer Towing #89 and Glenn Watson's Race2Way.ca #22.

A strong contingent of Outlaw teams are expected at Mosport. The 19 cars present at Barrie finished the race with a lower than average collateral damage expected at the bullrings. Several cars that missed that race should be on hand this Saturday, including #2 John Owen, #03 Shane Maginnis and #90 Pee Wee Evans.

Saturday June 24th will be the first of three visits for the Outlaws. Return appearances will be July 15th and August 19th. Mosport draws a large crowd of fans so you will definitely want to arrive early and get your favourite seat. Time for that need for speed - let's go racing!
