BOWMANVILLE, ON – For the second straight race the fans have left after an OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model Event wanting more. Some rule changes - instituted since last season - have resulted in incredible action on the speedways.
This was no different at the fast ½ mile Mosport Speedway Saturday evening. John Fletcher and Team JNE Consulting went in this race as defending race winner at Barrie Speedway, winner of the last two of three at Mosport and current OSCAAR points leader.
The early action in the qualifying did not see the Milton resident with the usual speed expected from the #61 car, but the team stayed Hyped and work hard to readjust the car for John in the 50-lap feature race. John started the race in the sixth starting position with main rival Cars by Clarke/JBM Leasing Rob Clarke starting forth and eventual race winner Kerr Cadillac driver Shane Maginnis on the outside pole.
As the green flew and the action on the track began the torrid race pace started to unfold. The Team JNE Consulting pilot with backing from Wix Filters and Hype Energy Drink let notice the early evening woes were behind them.
John quickly jumped into the third spot behind leaders Maginnis and Clarke and the three began to show that this was three car race until fellow Cunningham Racing Engine s backed James Evens rocketed from the ninth spot to take the third spot from John. John retook the spot and set sails on Clarke, passing him for second with a handful of laps to case down Maginnis only to finish in the runner up spot.
We usually have a caution here, but to go the 50 laps without one I just ran out of laps to get to Shane John also added Shane and his crew earned and deserved this one&. He was fast all night.
The caution free race was run under 18 minutes in front of Mosport Speedway s best crowd of 2006 and saw 18 of OSCAAR s best racers thrill them. Rounding out the top five Maginnis, Fletcher, Clarke, Drew Spicer and James Evens.
