Kamloops, B.C.- The second stop on the FLO-PRO.COM CASCAR Western series tour was held on Saturday June 10/06 at Sun Valley Motor Speedway. The "Zimmer Wheaton GMC" racing team had an up and down day but finished on a positive note.
The #21 of Jason White spent most of the day near the top of the speed charts when he posted the third fastest practice time and qualified the "Zimmer Wheaton Used Car Superstore" Monte Carlo in the 5th spot of the 21 car field.
When the green flag dropped, Jason held his position until lap 20 when the handling of the car started to deteriorate.
"We had a car that I thought could compete for the win at the start of the race, I was comfortable with the set up but it went away very quickly and I fought an extreme push situation for quite a few laps," said White.
The first caution didn't come until the second half of the race which gave the leaders time to put Jason down a lap.
"When the caution finally flew, I was happy my crew could finally adjust the car and we could learn something from what had happened to our initial set-up. After two or three pit stops the boys put a decent set-up back into the car and we were turning some fast lap times once again, it's just too bad we went down a lap earlier in the race."
After falling back to 15th place Jason fought his way back to the top ten with a 9th place finish.
The #11 car of Marty White had a frustrating day in the "Powder Ventures Excavating" Monte Carlo. The team fought most of the day to get a fast set-up into the car.
"I could get into the corner and through the middle fast and smooth, but we just couldn't get rid of the push coming off", said Marty.
When the race started Marty was holding on in the top fifteen, but then on lap 140 mechanical problems arose for the second race this season.
This time the clutch let go and ended his day early, leaving him with a dissapointing 18th place finish. Look for Marty to enter a brand new Mike Mccoll built car in the upcoming national Super Series event at Sun Valley Motor Speedway on July 15/16 2006.........should be interesting!
