Pete Shepherd update

Pete Shepherd's mom Sharon called yesterday to give an update on his outing last weekend at Richmond Int'l Raceway.

Here are some notes:

  • 14 cars in the field
  • It was Pete's first time ever racing at RIR
  • He was 3rd fastest in the first warm-up and 7th fastest (on old tires) in the second
  • Qualifying was rained out, so he started 7th.
  • He was up to third by lap 10 and stayed there until lap 80 (of the 100-lap race), when he fell to fourth... before his wheel fell off. Sounds like it's regular thing with the new Silver Crown cars. He went on to finish 6th based on how many cars he'd lapped prior to losing the wheel.
  • Petey's next race is July 7 at Chicagoland, during the Cup / Busch Series weekend.

Here is a full round-up from the team's PR man, Blake Johnson of RE Technologies.
