MT. ALBERT, ON (June 26, 2006) – Veteran CASCAR Super Series driver Kerry Micks, driving his 2006 Micks Motorsports Ford, is enthused about getting back to Barrie Speedway for the MOPAR Canada Day Weekend presented by the Dodge Dealers of Ontario.

“I’m really excited about going back to Barrie,” said the 45-year old Micks, who hails from Mt. Albert. “I tested there last week and the new track surface is awesome. My hat is off to Brad Moran and Jo Okada at Barrie” he added. “They continually work very hard to improve their facility and it pays off. The racing should be even more exciting on Canada Day.”

Kerry Micks leads the 2006 CASCAR Super Series Points Championship following the teams win at the Clarington 200 presented by Canadian Shield Anti Crime Response Corporation at Mosport International Raceway’s 2.5-mile, 10-turn road course in Bowmanville, Ontario.

“My team has worked incredibly hard this season and they deserve to be in first place. We’ve also had a lot of luck on our side so far which hasn’t been the case for most of the top-running teams at this time of year,” stated Micks, the 1993 CASCAR Super Series Champion. “Unfortunately, with no major sponsor to take to the winner’s circle, I don’t know how long I can compete. I’ve been very lucky to attract local sponsors such as Two-Tyme Recycling, Trailers by Jim Bray and Canadian Detailing Services. I also have APX Racewear keeping the team looking good and Brian Cathcart from Cathcart Trucking who gives me the truck which hauls the trailer. These sponsors have graciously helped to cover the costs of tires and fuel. The Western trip is much bigger and while we have a few deals in the works, nothing is concrete as of yet. We are going to keep digging and think positively to maintain the lead after Barrie and see where things go from there.”

The MOPAR Canada Day Weekend presented by the Dodge Dealers of Ontario CASCAR Super Series race will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 1-2 at Barrie Speedway located north of Barrie, Ontario on the 1/3 mile tri-oval. The green flag is scheduled to fly Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
