CASCAR: NAPA AUTOPRO TEAM RETURNS TO BARRIE

Brantford’s Doug Brown heads back to Barrie Speedway this Canada Day Weekend looking for a repeat of his season opening performance at the tough 1/3rd-mile oval. Or better still, he’d like to improve upon his fourth place run on opening day.

The veteran competitor is off to his best start ever in Super Series competition and finds himself tied with defending Series’ Champion Don Thomson Jr or Ayr for fourth spot in the early season points’ race.

They currently trail Series’ leader Kerry Micks of Mt. Albert by 30 points and are just 10 points behind third place runner JR Fitzpatrick of Cambridge. Scott Steckley of Milverton sits in second spot a mere 4 points out of the lead heading to Barrie.

“Just like the season opener, we need to set a fast qualifying time, have a solid run in the 50-lap qualifier and run a steady pace and stick with the leaders lap by lap in the 300-lap main event,” Doug confided while discussing his pre-race strategy.

The team also enters the weekend with some added sponsorship support.

The NAPA Autopro-sponsored competitor will be carrying some extra business logos for this weekend’s race with Haldex Limited of Guelph coming on board the team’s sponsorship/marketing team for the rest of the season.

“We’re really delighted to have Brian Bowerman and his company Haldex join our team, “ Doug remarked when announcing the addition. “We’ve made some approaches to Haldex in the past and hope we can reward them with a strong performance at Barrie and throughout the balance of the season.”

Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems has a broad line of products and subsystems that are used in air brake systems (and suspension systems) for heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers, and buses. The product line includes compressors and air dryers, ABS/EBS systems, valves and brake cylinders, disc brakes, drum brake components and brake linings.

With the addition of Haldex and some added support from NAPA Autopro, the team is now confident it will be heading west for events in Vernon, BC on July 15th and 16th then back to Alberta for the Champ Car Grand Prix Weekend in Edmonton beginning July 21st.

The Brown Auto Racing #10 CASCAR Super Series Team is proud to have NAPA/Autopro as its Title Sponsor with Bicknell Racing Products; World of Graphics; HurryPrint Imaging Centre; WIX Filters; KWIC Internet; Gates Canada; BOC Gases; Advance Printing; Brochures etc; Leitch Performance Engines, Haldex Limited Davis Fuels and Leaf Racewear on its Associate Sponsorship Marketing team.
