Pete Shepherd update

INSIDE TRACK EXCLUSIVE:

Pete Shepherd III's mom Sharon just called with an update on Petey's recent news.

After several months, his visa papers came through last week to work in the States. Petey is staying with friends in the Charlotte area, but he has a condo on Lake Norman that he'll move into in mid-June.

It sounds like Roush's signing of Michel Jourdain reduced Petey's probable 2006 Truck Series outings to two (not sure which ones), but the young Canadian will have a full schedule of Silver Crown and ARCA outings to keep him busy.

According to Sharon, here are the planned Silver Crown outings, at this point: June 16 @ Kentucky; June 23 @ Richmond; July 9 @ Chicagoland; July 22 @ Milwaukee; Aug. 3 at IRP; Aug. 19 @ Springfield; Sept. 16 @ Iowa; Sept. 22 at Eldora (maybe) and Sept. 30 @ Kansas.

As for the planned ARCA races Petey will be in, they include: July 28 @ Gateway; Aug. 12 at Nashville; Aug. 18 at Michigan; Aug. 27 @ Milwaukee; Sept. 9 at Chicagoland; and Oct. 6 at Talladega.

In between all that, Shepherd's job includes working out with a personal trainer at Roush (where Petey has an office) and to soak up everything he can by being around Roush's Truck operations. He will also attend as many Truck Series races as possible. According to Sharon, if all goes as planned, he could be in a full-time Truck ride in '07.

Thanks to Sharon for the update and good luck to Petey. I can imagine lots of us will be planning some road trips to cheer him on.
