CASCAR: VAN ES RACING BARRIE REPORT

SATISFYING RUN FOR VAN ES DESPITE EARLY RACE PROBLEMS

BARRIE, ON – It wasn’t the finish Stoney Creek’s Ron Van Es was hoping for but he was satisfied, nonetheless, after coming home fifteenth in CASCAR’s Super Series opener at Barrie Speedway on Monday.

“We experienced a tight condition at the start of the race and had some problems during the early going. But once we made some quick adjustments during a pit stop the car and the track came to us, “ Ron remarked following the scheduled 250-lap chase around the Speedway’s tight 1/3rd-mile tri-oval. “We’re pleased with the finish and look forward to improving our efforts at St. Eustache,” he added.

A problem with an air wrench cost him a lap during a pit stop and dropped two laps to the leaders during green flag racing.

Still without major sponsorship support the Star Van Systems team remains confident they can complete the entire Super Series schedule and be among the leaders when the final point standings are tallied.
Last season Van Es finished thirteenth in the National point’s race and he and his team mated are targeting a top ten spot.
