MehlenbacherNORTH TONAWANDA, NY (April 5, 2006) – After a solid year in the inaugural Pro Modified Racing Association, one of the PMRA’s most colorful teams is looking forward to the upcoming season.“After a real good season with the PMRA last year we have our work cut out for us this year,” said Jack Grainy, driver of the Grainy Brothers team based in North Tonawanda, NY. Running on a low budget, the team has proven that dedication and commitment do produce results, as it placed second in the 2005 PMRA points standings.
The Grainy Brothers Pro Modified race car is a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta powered by blown 526-cubic inch Keith Black Hemi, a Littlefield 1471 Supercharger, a Jim Salemi and Mike Stawicki fuel system, mated to a Lenco three-speed transmission with a Crower clutch.
"We are a dedicated team that loves to drag race,” explained crew chief Sonny Grainy. “Jack and I have been doing this since 1974, and that’s before some of our competition was even born. The PMRA has given us a chance to really showcase our equipment and we have a blast doing it.”
The Niagara Auto-sponsored entry will have a new onboard computer system for the new season, and be running the smaller Pro Modified race tire. G-Force Race Cars out lf Western New York assisting the Grainys with chassis and suspension set-ups.
