Tracy / NASCAR article in the Globe

A story in today's Globe & Mail discusses why Paul Tracy is leaning toward staying in Champ Cars.

It also contains an interesting comment about why NASCAR hasn't brought one of its touring divisions to Canada as of yet.

"The sticking point for NASCAR is simple: It wants the promoter of the Canadian race to pay all the teams' expenses as well as put up the prize money. The race promoters in Mexico City signed a similar deal to land its Busch Series race.

"Montreal is pegged as a front-runner in the NASCAR sweepstakes, although a Craftsman Truck Series race in Calgary sponsored by Molson and Coors may be a dark horse."

And speaking of NASCAR & Canada. Remember last fall how those Canadian Tire flyers you got with the weekend papers were chock full of racing goodies and even the odd NASCAR logo? But not anymore.

Sure, you might see the odd "HEMI" hat now and then, but the racing stuff has pretty much disappeared. And I haven't seen a NASCAR logo in there for months.
