Villeneuve quit because he didn't want to compete for a ride

"After having been in F1 for 10 years and having won the championship and so on, I wasn't ready to stay home some weekends just to see how the other guy would go and to then be compared to him [Robert Kubica]..."
As for Villeneuve's desire to re-start his career as a NASCAR racer, he said, "If I was going to drive again, it would have to be NASCAR, that's all... Basically it's something you have to learn from scratch, and I think that's what would make it interesting and exciting. When you start at the bottom of the ladder and have to learn, you really have to outdo yourself, it makes it exciting."
