CASCAR WESTERN SERIES: Saskatoon Preview

Five-time CASCAR Western Series champion Kevin Dowler (Edmonton) sits 23 points behind Flo-Pro.com series leader Jim White of Kamloops heading into Saturday's final race of the season at Auto Clearing Speedway, in Saskatoon, SK.

It will be a classic battle of Ford versus Dodge with Jim White looking to duplicate his performance from his earlier visit to the local track.

“I plan to put the Dodge on the Podium in the top spot,” stated Jim earlier in the week . “Kevin won all his championships racing for top spot. He never eased up if he knew he had it in the bag and I’m going to do the same.”

The CASCAR points system would allow Dowler ample points to overtake White should he have problems during the 200 lap feature.

Regardless of the outcome, this will be Kevin Dowler's final race in the EMCO sponsored Ford Taurus. “I have had a great career with many great memories but it’s time to put the steering wheel on the wall and let my kids know who I am. But I will be there for the final and I am not going out in any less position than first,” Dowler states with confidence.

Local racers may have something to say about that as well. Past Western champion Dan Shirley as well as Chris Shirley both have enjoyed podium spots during series visits and could upset the cart so to speak making this final race very interesting.
