"Avenger brings Dodge brand American muscle-car heritage into the global midsize car segment," said Trevor Creed, senior vice president of design for the Chrysler Group. "It does for the global D segment what Caliber has done in the global C segment — it offers a unique alternative to the competition."The Avenger's profile is characterized by a long hood, a high-gloss black B-pillar, a short deck lid and a rear spoiler. Other details include 19-inch five-spoke painted satin silver wheels and all-season performance tires, along with chrome-tipped dual exhaust outlets. The concept is outfitted with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that Chrysler said "could be sold in markets outside North America." Not surprisingly, it is painted in Dodge's signature color, inferno red.
The Avenger is the sister car to the Sebring. It will go on sale in the United States in the spring. Dodge plans to sell the vehicle in Europe, although it has yet to spell out a timetable for its global rollout.
