Saint-Eustache, July 12th. – Kevin Lacroix enters this week a new phase in the Star Mazda championship with three events in four weeks that will take him across the United States and almost back home. The 17-year old rookie will be at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah for a testing day with his Uniselect #74 car before he takes to the track for his fifth round of the season over the weekend. Then, it will be the Oregon Trail for another round in Portland before he heads back to Quebec for the second stop on Canadian turf at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.

“Any testing day is a good chance for us to try new setups as we will face three different tracks in four weeks, said Lacroix. Miller looks like a rather flat and technical track while Portland is faster. Then we go to an urban twisty facility when I have been waiting to race for a long time, Trois-Rivières. I think my engineer (Johnny Walko) and I can find a bit more speed in our car.

Looking into the futureAlthough it is very early to announce anything for next year, Lacroix adds his managing team is looking towards the future and what lies ahead for him: “We will evaluate all avenues and make the proper announcement in due time. I value every minute with JWR in the Star Mazda series and learn every time I race the UniSelect car. I think we will have a strong season end.”

Miller Motorsports scheduleAfter his Wednesday testing, Lacroix will take part in two practice sessions on Thursday before a third one and qualifying on Friday. The 45-minute rave will go green on Saturday at 2:45 PM. “Those two races will be very important for the championship, concluded Lacroix. I have my work cut out and will look for podiums.”

Named the Rising Star among kart drivers in 2004, Kevin Lacroix was a multiple kart champion and a 2005 Formula BMW USA scholar where he finished second in the 14-round championship. Lacroix enters the Star Mazda 2006 series with JWR with the support of sponsors that have trusted him over the years: UniSélect automotive network, SKF MotorSports, Raybestos, Tenneco, Pennzoil, Auto Parts Plus and Lacroix Auto Parts.
