Information, education, gratification at new Yokohama Tire website

Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. has taken the wraps off a new, easy-to-navigate consumer website packed with useful product information, helpful tire knowledge and even a fun action game.

The new site, www.yokohama.ca, will become the must-visit destination for savvy consumers searching the web for current tire news, product promotions, important technical background and guidance on buying tires specifically for their cars, predicts Brad Sherwin, Marketing Communications Manager for Yokohama Canada.

“The web has become the most important tool for consumers to get to know brands and products, and the tire business is no exception,” says Sherwin. “They want current information, they expect value-added education, they’re seeking the latest deals and they want it all in an easy-to-navigate site. That’s what they get at yokohama.ca.”

The site was launched during the last week of June, and includes a “tire finder” application that helps consumers determine which Yokohama tire exactly suits their car, a guide to finding the nearest convenient Yokohama retailer, and the ability to download the forms to take advantage of special product rebates. Visitors can find out about the company’s motorsports involvement, check out branded merchandise like Yokohama hats and shirts, and catch up on news from the company.

“The Yokohama racing game is great, too,” says Sherwin, “but it’s harder than it looks.”

While the site will primarily serve consumers, Sherwin also thinks it will be a good sales aid for retailers looking for a transparent device to help customers understand both the technology behind their tire purchase and the options available to them. “Educated consumers are better consumers, and this site helps newcomers and experienced buyers alike make informed decisions,” he concludes.

Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. markets and distributes a full line of tires for high performance, passenger car, light truck, and commercial truck applications, as well as off-the-road tires for mining and construction applications. It maintains distribution centres across Canada to serve more than 800 independent tire dealers.
