CASCAR: Sun Valley Qualifying

VERNON, BC - Don Thomson Jr. set a new CASCAR Super Series time trial qualifying record at Sun Valley Speedway on Saturday evening when he lapped the half-mile tri-oval in 18.459 seconds to secure the pole for Sunday afternoon's Castrol 300.

Kerry Micks was second fastest, with a lap of 18.521, and will start on the outside of the front row. The remainder of the starting field will be determined later this evening in the Twin 100 qualifying sprint races. Derek Polack of Stony Plain, AB was the fastest of the Flo~Pro.com Western Series drivers during time trials, posting the eighth-fastest lap. A total of 37 cars are on hand for the race.
