CASCAR: ROBIN BUCK TO DRIVE #88 IN CASCAR’S RETURN TO EDMONTON

Edmonton, AB, Tuesday July 18, 2006: Dave Jacombs announced today that veteran road racer Robin Buck will again be behind the wheel of the #88 Lou’s BBQ/CPS Flooring Ford Taurus. Buck a second place finisher the last time the CASCAR Super Series raced at the Regional Airport facility is a winner on many road racing circuits.

“We put Robin in the car at the Mosport Road Course in June,” stated team driver/owner Dave Jacombs. “I wasn’t feeling the greatest the morning of the race and after discussion with my team we decided it was in the best interest of the team and our sponsors to put someone in the car who could give 100%,” he added.

As Jacombs qualified the #88 Taurus, Buck was relegated to the rear of the 31 car field for the start. By lap 10 he was up to 17th position and moving forward. With 10 laps to go he was passing the second place car when they both challenged for the same piece of the track and the Lou’s BBQ/CPS Flooring Taurus ended up in a sand trap. “The car was great,” commented Buck after the race. “Considering I hadn’t put a lap on the car prior to the race, it was running awesome. I really thought we had something for eventual winner Kerry Micks the car was that good. I hadn’t been pushing it hard at all up to that point,” he added.

The CASCAR Super Series last competed on the Edmonton Municipal Airport course in 2000 where Buck was enjoying a five second lead over second place runner Kevin Dowler when a lapped car spun the #66 Napa car of Buck. By the time he was able to get back on track, Dowler had passed him and he went on to win the race with a disappointed Buck placing second.

Buck has enjoyed a large amount of success over his 30 year racing career from Karts to Formula 2000 to the GM/Players series to most recently the CASCAR Super Series. Robin Buck’s bio shows him with wins on such street courses as the Vancouver and Toronto Indy events as well as Trois Rivieres. He is expected to be a contender in this CASCAR’s return to the Edmonton Regional airport facility this year.

Owner Dave Jacombs is a twelve year veteran of the CASCAR Super Series with a third place finish in the Eastern Super Series point standings in 2000 and several podium finishes to his credit.
