EDMONTON, AB - J.R. Fitzpatrick posted the fastest lap of the Friday afternoon qualifying session, in advance of Saturday's Griddly Headz 100 CASCAR Super Series race at the Edmonton City Centre Airport.The #84 Milwaukee Tools Chevy driver lapped the 14-turn road course in a time of 1 minute and 24.732 seconds. Kenny Habul was second-fastest, with a lap of 1:25.527 around the 3.175 km circuit. Former Western Series champ Wade Lee was the quickest Western regular, in 11th. Reigning Western Series champion Kevin Dowler recovered from his earlier engine woes to qualify 16th.
A second qualifying session for the CASCAR competitors will take place on Saturday morning during the Grand Prix of Edmonton race weekend. The starting grid for the Griddly Headz 100 will be finalized after that session.
