BEAUCHAMP CLAIMS ANOTHER PODIUM, LEADS THE OVERALL POINT STANINGS!

June 5, 2005. Still full of enthusiasm from their opening round win at Delaware Speedway Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the Mopar Parts Dodge rolled in the Autodrome St. Eustache for race number two of the CASCAR Super Series looking for more success on a track that had been good to them in the past.
This flat but very fast 4/10 of a mile oval is a tricky one for racers to
get used to; however Beauchamp has run well here in the past and captured his first
series victory in 1998. A few changes and adjustments were made to get the car ready for this race track but Ron Beauchamp Sr. felt that nothing really dramatic was necessary.
The results of time trials put Ron Jr. in the 9th starting spot in the 25 car field. "It wasn't as good as we would have liked but I knew if we stayed away from the trouble early we had a good car," Beauchamp said.
With the caution flag waving on the very first lap it appeared as though it might be a long night, but through the first half of the race Beauchamp was able to snake through whatever problems arose and moved up several positions. "Things looked pretty good early and I was just trying to save a little for the end," stated the driver. Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the Mopar Parts Dodge would be there at the end.
More caution periods filled the closing stages of the race. Ron Jr. had kept the Mopar powered Charger in the thick of the battle but found that his car worked better on longer green flag runs that weren't materializing. Working to secure a top five finish there was more trouble in front of Beauchamp but he was able to benefit from others misfortune. As the #39 car emerged from pit lane after serving a penalty there was contact with the second place #4 car dropping him back and allowing Beauchamp to move the Mopar Parts Dodge into third position and claim the final place on the podium. Afterwards the driver surmised that "We had a decent car tonight and a little bit of luck in the late going, but we'll take it and move on."
With the second podium finish in as many races Ron Beauchamp Jr. continues to lead the overall Super Series point standings. Teams will enjoy a weekend off before resuming competition on the Father's Day weekend at the famous road course at Mosport International Raceway. "A few years ago the road courses weren't my favourite events," stated Beauchamp. "But I've run pretty well and Mosport and like it much better now".
Race fans will be able to get their fix of the CASCAR Super Series next Saturday
afternoon as Rogers Sportsnet broadcasts the first event of the season, the Mopar 250 from Delaware Speedway. It will be a great opportunity to relive the exciting victory for the Mopar Parts team.
