Press Release prepared by Jenesis Dynamics

London, Ont. NASCAR Dodge Late Model driver Cole Pearn won the feature race at Kawartha Speedway Friday, June 10th. It is the second victory of the season for the 22 year old driver from Mt. Brydges, Ontario.

“The car was fast right from when we started” Cole says.

Cole began with a heat race win, after which he lined up for the feature in 7th spot.

“I got boxed in there at the beginning for a bit” he says “but after the first caution, I started passing cars one at a time on the inside or the outside; the car worked well for both”. Cole passed team mate Pete Vanderwyst on the outside just before a caution and was able to take the lead from Larry Jackson on the restart.

Pete Vanderwyst started 4th in his heat race and finished 2nd. He won the semi feature, a race involving the top four finishing cars from each heat race, before starting the feature in 5th position. By lap 2, he had moved into 2nd spot and held that position to the end.

Both Vanderwyst, a native of St Thomas Ontario, and Pearn have previously raced at Kawartha as drivers in the CASCAR Super Series. They were both enthusiastic about racing there again. “Kawartha is one of the best tracks to run on” Cole explains “It is so wide, and there are two grooves to run. It was nice to go back there”.

The Weekend Warrior Series presented by Lucas Oil Products, which the Late Model divisions at both Delaware and Kawartha Speedway are a part of, sets up a contest between six divisions at tracks across Ontario to compete for the series point fund.
