ALMS: Sebring - A Very Wet Night Practice

By Gary Horrocks
SEBRING, FL - Nothing really much to report here, as there was nothing to be learned from running in the wet this evening, especially with the forecast being for much better weather the rest of the weekend.

The real reason for this session was that ALMS regulations state that each driver must complete three practice laps in the dark. So, what most of the teams did was just get the minimum laps in. Simple as that. Take them out and bring them back safe. Thankfully, that is what appears to have happened, as there was no major drama to report

One team that did not go out was the Miracle Motorsports P2 Courage. There was some confusion about this, but finally word came back from the ALMS that the requirements for this car were waived, as “their tire manufacturer – Kuhmo – was not able to supply tires of the proper dimensions for the conditions that were present." Simply stated, they had no wets of the correct size available.

For now, all that remains before the ALMS 12-hour race on Saturday is a single practice session on Friday. This session could be very interesting, as teams find out how the track performs after being cleaned by the wonderful Florida rain
