Oh Lord, won't you buy me a
Mercedes-Benz... and make it a
CLK 63 while you're at it.
Yes, the loons at
AMG have shoved their 6.2-litre V8 engine into the unsuspecting
CLK coupe and cabriolet models.
We love their approach and applaud the
CLK 63 AMG for having 481bhp and seeing off 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds, although the top speed is nannied at a limited 155mph.
The suspension and brakes have come in for the usual AMG attention, and there's also a bodykit and 18in alloy wheels to tell the world you've spent £65,215 on the coupe or a further £3,600 for the cabriolet.
For this sort of cash, you also get AMG's new steering wheel design with shift paddles for the seven-speed auto 'box.
For those who feel the AMG may be a trifle gauche,
Mercedes has popped its latest 5.5-litre V8 into the CLK 500. It makes do with just 388bhp and 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds.
If the subtle approach to V8 hoonery in a Merc takes your fancy, the CLK 500 coupe costs from £47,490 and the cabriolet form £51,090.
