ST-PIE, QUEBEC (August 19, 2006) – At its inaugural race at the famed Sanair Motorplex in St-Pie, Quebec outside of Montreal a tough field of Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA) competitors headlined a great show for the large crowd as part of the Eaton PMRA Challenge Presented by Eaton’s Electrical business.
And the large crowd was ready for the final between Carl Spiering and Joe Lilienthal, but the skies opened up Saturday evening and the event was cancelled.

“I was ready. This would have been a great final,” said number one qualifier Carl Spiering, of Jordan Station, ON, in his Eaton Electrical Supercharged Chevrolet Camaro Pro Modified. “We had a strong car all day, and we would have been there at the end.”

Spiering was paired with 2005 PMRA champion Joe Lilienthal of Kenmore, NY, with his My Vice Racing Jeep Pro Modified. Spiering took top qualifying spot in the field with a 4.259-second, 174.11-mph pass, while Lilienthal qualified number two with a 4.420-second, 163.81 mph lap.

Spiering eliminated Jack Grainy in his Chevy Beretta of North Tonawanda, NY, and a hard-charging Joe Boniferro in his Dodge Avenger of Niagara Falls, Ontario to work his way up the ladder, while Lilienthal bested Fredericton, NB’s Trevor Moulton and his Camaro, and Kasey Janzen of St. Catharines, ON, in his Chevy Lumina.
