They're a busy bunch at
BMW. No sooner have they told us all about the next X5 than they're spilling the beans on new engines for the
3-Series range.
There's a brace of new turbodiesel units and the stonking
335i twin-turbo petrol engine.
The 325d six-cylinder turbodiesel comes in saloon and Touring estate bodies. It packs 197bhp, and can offer up 0-62mph in 7.4 seconds and 146mph.
The twin-turbo
335d turbodiesel ups the ante with 286bhp for 0-62mph in as little as 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 155mph while still returning up to 37.7mpg.
The
335i petrol six-cylinder engine uses a pair of turbochargers to unleash 306bhp, and will see the
3-Series saloon go from 0-62mph in just 5.6 seconds and on to 155mph.
The
335 petrol and diesel engines also make an appearance in the new 3-Series Coupe.
Prices for the
325d start at £27,310 for the SE saloon model, while the 335d kicks off at £32,995 for the same trim level.
The
335i petrol range starts at £30,940 for the SE saloon.
