It's just one month away from the tentative grand unveiling of the Project Track Champion race car. I saw the car this past weekend, and it is coming along really well. A lot has been done, but a lot has yet to be done. The Project Track Champion team is working feverishly to meet the goal of July 1. The event will start at 11:00 a.m., and end about 3:00 p.m., with regular racing continuing well into the evening.
You can stay for as short or as long a time as you wish. Varney Speedway, located between Durham and Mount Forest on Highway 6, is generously sponsoring free admission for the individual with the disability, and their care giver. Regular admission for others is $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, $4 for children, $28 family pass (2 adults & 3 children).
I also toured Varney Speedway. A section has been set aside for our exclusive use. It has a great view of the pit area, as well as the entire race track. It is close to the wheelchair accessible bathroom. It's important that you bring lawn chairs to view the activities. There is a concession stand on site as well as ample free parking.
We are trying to get a count of how many children and adults with disabilities will be coming out and how many will want to go for a free ride around the race track. If you are interested in attending this event, please let me know.
Volunteers from all walks of life, who care about children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities, are planning two exciting days (tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 1, and Saturday, July 2), for that special needs child or adult for whom you care.
The event, which will take place at Varney Speedway, will centre on a specially designed and built race car that will accommodate a person in a wheelchair or two special needs individuals. Come out and be part of the fun!
