LUCAS OIL WWS: Vanderwyst & Pearn head to Kawartha

LONDON, ON - The NASCAR Dodge Late Model team of Cole Pearn and Pete Vanderwyst will travel to Peterborough this Friday, June 10th, to compete in the late model division at Kawartha Speedway.

This will be the second time in as many weekends that the two car team has hit the road to compete in a WWS Lucas Oil Series race. June 4th, Pearn and Vanderwyst raced at Flamboro in the Grisdale Triple Crown race. Vanderwyst won the race and Pearn finished sixth.

The two car team is attracting fans with their electrifying performances. On May 21st, in the second of two 50 lap races, Vanderwyst came from the back of the field to take the race lead; only to be beaten to the finish line on the last lap by Pearn. Vanderwyst has also posted a win at Delaware Speedway, on opening night when he and Pearn finished first and second.

Both Vanderwyst, a native of St Thomas Ontario, and Pearn have previously raced in the CASCAR Super Series and both bring a wealth of racing experience to the team. Pearn is a full time co-op engineering student at Waterloo University.

Changes this season to the rules for the late model division at Delaware Speedway now allow these cars to compete with late models from other tracks for the first time in over 20 years. “We are doing this because we can” says Vanderwyst. “And we are having a blast”.
