Wow. I just heard about this this morning and I still can't believe it.
Chrissy has been a huge part of CASCAR for as long as I've been following the series... which is about half as long as she's been working there.
She was an absolute pleasure to deal with. She has a heart of gold and is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
I will miss dealing with her on a regular basis for professional and personal reasons.
Chris Hughes did an amazing job. She never let me down... never... and as many balls as she was juggling, she managed to keep them in the air and did it with a smile.
Whoever takes on the challenge will have huge shoes to fill.
Good luck Chris!!!!!

KOMOKA, ON – CASCAR and Christina Hughes jointly announced this morning that after 23 years as Competition Administrator, Christina has decided to move on from CASCAR to pursue a career in an unrelated industry.
Christina has become a fixture within CASCAR, having been the primary point of contact for teams and drivers, as well as routinely working with sponsors, event promoters, and all other CASCAR business partners. CASCAR staff members were visibly saddened by the news on Saturday night, which was delivered after the conclusion of the Whelen 200 at Autodrome St. Eustache, and a similar reaction can be expected throughout the ranks of CASCAR.
“Christina was universally respected and loved throughout the ranks of CASCAR,” stated CASCAR president Tony Novotny. “Christina has become a great friend to myself and Linda [Novotny], and I think I can speak for our entire membership and sponsor base when I say that she will be dearly missed. Christina has been of great service to CASCAR and while it will be difficult to fill her shoes we sincerely wish her all the best in her new endeavors, and look forward to seeing her at the track as a fan and spectator. Best wishes Christina.”
Christina was known for her “tough love” approach to competition administration, and competitors often jokingly stated that the first rule of CASCAR is “Don’t get on Chrissy’s bad side”. In addition to handling administrative duties at the CASCAR office Christina attended all Super Series events. Amazingly, she has not missed a Super Series event since the final race of the 1989 race season, when she missed the race due to a broken leg, making for an incredible 15 years of perfect attendance.
“I am looking forward to starting this new chapter in my life,” Christina Hughes said, “and I will truly miss my co-workers and the camaraderie that we shared. I have made a lot of friends and over the years and I will definitely miss the weekend interactions, but I take with me years of wonderful memories.”
CASCAR will distribute updated information regarding administrative contacts and procedures to the member and sponsor base within the next two weeks.
The CASCAR Super Series is Canada’s top level of stock car racing, with events held in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia. Over 150 race teams across the country compete in CASCAR’s three series’: the Western Series, Power Water Series, and the Super Series.
