The Engine Pro, Sprints On Dirt presented by Total Seal series travels to Ohio this weekend for two days of action. Friday, May 20th will see the first ever visit by the Michigan based traveling sprint group to Janet Holbrook’s Attica Raceway Park. A 25 lap “A” Main will highlight the visit to the high banked 3/8th mile clay oval. Indiana veteran, Brett Mann leads the point chase in the early going with fellow Hoosier Tim Norman a close second. Michigan veterans Ben Rutan and Gregg Dalman, along with Ohio youngster Nick Mulheim round out the top five. All are expected to be in attendance when the gates open at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:00 p.m. with racing scheduled for 8:00.
Fremont Speedway will host the 2nd annual SOD vs. Fremont 305 Challenge Saturday night, May 21st. Last year a large field of eighty-six sprints filed through the gates and when the checkers waved it was Brian Smith in Victory Lane capturing the non-stop thirty lap feature in a 305. The SOD gang will be out in force to even the score when the gates open at 4:30. Look for Mark Broughman, Dain Naida, Dustin Daggett, Kyle Patrick, Davey Brown and rookie Louie Carufel to lead the SOD assault on the 305 regulars. Race time is slated for 7:30.
Drivers and fans traveling to the Buckeye State are reminded that quality rooms are available at the Hampton Inn in Tiffin for $60. Prince includes a free breakfast and a large paved parking lot is available to handle the rigs. Phone 419-443-5300 and ask for the “racer’s rate”.
