CONCORD, N.C. (May 17) - NASCAR Busch Series points leader and NEXTEL Cup Series race winner Carl Edwards will kick off Coca-Cola 600 week by competing in the Ferris Commercial Mowers presents the Eckerd 75 DIRT big-block Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRT Series event Wednesday night, May 25, at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Edwards, a 25-year-old native of Columbia, Mo., is scheduled to drive a second no. 3 Page Trucking and Transportation entry as a teammate to multi-time DIRT Modified champion Brett Hearn from Sussex, N.J.
While Edwards has very little experience in the big-block DIRT Modified ranks, he is no stranger to dirt-track racing. The second-generation driver captured the 1999 modified title and the 2000 pro modified championship at Capital Speedway, a dirt track near Jefferson City, Mo., while working his way up the racing ladder.
The Ferris Commercial Mowers presents the Eckerd 75 will start a busy week for Edwards as he will also drive the No. 60 Charter Communications Ford in the inaugural nighttime running of the CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 on Saturday, May 28, and he'll be behind the wheel of the No. 99 Scotts Ford for the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 29.
If purchased prior to May 21, reserved seats for the May 25 Ferris Commercial Mowers presents the Eckerd 75 are $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. Adult tickets will be $25 after the Early Bird special expires.
Tickets for all May events at Lowe's Motor Speedway and The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway can be purchased online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com or by calling the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS.
