CASCAR: Dodge Charger Roars into the 2005 CASCAR race season!

TORONTO, ON – The all-new Brampton-built Dodge Charger Daytona R/T made its Canadian premiere on Tuesday afternoon, beside its sibling, the Number #9 Dodge Charger stock car that will be used in this year’s CASCAR racing series.

The famous number #9 Dodge Charger was victorious in last Saturday’s NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race. “This represents the first Dodge Charger victory in 27 years, making us hopeful the lucky number #9 will continue its racing success in this season’s CASCAR series,” said Pearl Davies, Senior Manager, National Advertising, DaimlerChrysler Canada.

“Even if you’re not a pro-driver like Kasey Kahne or Mark Dilley, you’re sure to feel like one behind the wheel of our new Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, a race-inspired vehicle that is equally at home on the track as it is on the street.”

Dodge Charger Daytona R/T
Proudly built at Brampton Assembly plant, the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will be hitting the streets later this year. It will feature a five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick® and a 5.7-litre HEMI V-8 engine that offers an estimated 350 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque – ten more horses than the previous 5.7-litre HEMI with a throaty, high-performance exhaust tone to match.

The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will be available in two special edition heritage colours – Go ManGo! and Top Banana. Exterior features for the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T include exclusive front fascia with a chin spoiler and black honeycomb grille, unique HEMI blackout decal graphics on the hood and Daytona, decal on the rear quarters, signature heritage R/T badging and a rear decklid spoiler. Bright dual exhaust tips, 18-inch polished wheels with low gloss, jet black painted pockets and traditional HEMI orange engine cover.

The interior of the vehicle features performance front seats with suede inserts and embroidered Daytona. logos on the headrests. Body-coloured accent stitching will appear on the front and rear seats and on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. There is also a matching body-coloured centre stack bezel, a Daytona Limited Edition. display on the electronic cluster and sequentially numbered limited-edition Daytona badge on the instrument panel.

The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T comes equipped with standard world-class performance and handling features, including Electronic Stability Program (ESP), All-speed Traction Control and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). The HEMI engine's Multi-displacement System (MDS) provides up to 20 percent improved fuel economy.

A high-performance suspension package that includes special suspension tuning, 18-inch all-season P235/55 R18 performance tires, performance-tuned steering gear and Nivomat self-leveling rear shock absorbers are standard on the Charger Daytona R/T.

Dodge looking forward to partnership with Mark Dilley

For the first time in his 15 year career with CASCAR, Mark Dilley will be changing numbers from his customary #64 to #9 on his Dodge vehicle, made famous in the NASCAR racing series.

Dilley will be representing Dodge in the #9 Dodge Charger for four of the twelve Premier Stockcar Racing Super Series races in 2005. Two of the races are sponsored by the Ontario Dodge Dealers and two by MOPAR. Since 1966, total Dodge Charger wins in the NASCAR circuit total 125 including the recent victory on Saturday night.

The Dodge Charger for CASCAR Super Series competition features the same bold styling, signature grille and powerful performance found throughout the Dodge lineup. It takes it’s styling cues from the new Dodge Charger production vehicle with its crosshair front grille, bold rear fascia and signature rear side windows.
