STORNOWAY, Scotland — A councilor representing Stornoway, a port city on Scotland's Isle of Lewis, is complaining that tourists will be discouraged from visiting because
Land Rover has named a paint color "Stornoway Gray."
The BBC News quoted Councilor Angus Nicolson as saying the name is "deeply insulting... offensive, inaccurate and inherently degrading." At the root of his complaint is a concern that the color unfairly portrays Stornoway as dull and overcast.
A
Land Rover spokesman responded that gray is "extremely popular" for Land Rover vehicles and said he hoped the color name would help keep Stornoway "on the map."
