PARIS — Peugeot is launching its latest hot hatch for Europe, the
207 GTi THP 175. Aimed head-on at
Volkswagen's
Golf GTI, the
207 GTi THP 175 will go on sale in June.
The
207 GTi THP 175 is unusual in that it successfully blends performance safety. It boasts a five-star NCAP safety rating in Europe, while offering a turbocharged DOHC 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 175 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox, Peugeot says the 0-to-60-mph sprint takes less than 7.1 seconds.
The
207 GTi THP 175 rides on 17-inch Bridgestone Potenza tires. Exterior features include alloy wheels, twin exhaust pipes and a rear spoiler.
Safety hardware includes a standard electronic stability program as well as a new steering stability program (SSP), which coordinates signals between the electric power steering and the ESP and applies more braking power and steering torque, as needed.
The car also can be ordered with a rear parking aid and directional headlamps.
