LAS VEGAS — Hyundai demonstrated a serious commitment to the aftermarket as it unveiled a slate of customized SEMA vehicles on Tuesday, including a race-inspired K-Daddyz Accent and an Elantra transformed into a show car by David Martin and BP Racing.
The K-Daddyz Kustom three-door Accent veered toward the outrageous, with Lamborghini-style doors, nitrous bottles in the cabin and a monster Infinity audio system. Hyundai noted that the Accent is outfitted with the company's aftermarket accessories — a part of its business that it has been working to expand.
Shawn Williams from Street Concepts put his hand to a 2007 Tiburon and a Sonata. The Tiburon got two-tone paint as well as performance-enhancing modifications that include an Injen intake, a high-performance exhaust system and an ARK strut tower bar. Interior touches included an Infinity sound system, a Kenwood head unit, an iPod interface, a Momo steering wheel and carbon-fiber accents.
The Sonata got a full Studie body kit from Korea for a sportier look and a black metallic paint job. The Sonata also received a Brembo Big Brake kit and Kenwood navigation and audio systems.
Troy Lee Designs had some fun with a Santa Fe, employing a paint scheme with airbrushed flames, hard lines and shadows, and freehand brush strokes. The Santa Fe also got Lamborghini reverse-opening doors and leather seats that match the exterior graphics.
An Elantra got a customized look from David Martin and BP Racing. The two morphed the Elantra into a race-inspired show car with bright yellow paint, detailed graphics and an AIT Racing Wondrous body kit. Martin wanted to turn the Elantra into a "weekend warrior," adding Cobra Sidewinder racing seats with gray inserts, racing pedals and a harness system. Cabin details include an Infinity audio system with Kappa components.
