Indianapolis, IN – Late Thursday afternoon USAC Racing announced that the appeal to Dave Steele’s 2006 Copper World win was over and that the C&R Racing Silver Crown chassis is legal.

An independent panel met at the USAC corporate headquarters Thursday, February 16 in Speedway, IN to study the details of the appeal and the winning chassis. After an afternoon of presentation and investigation the panel awarded the win to Dave and Team Six R (Team 6R), making it Dave’s second win of the day and his fifth straight Copper World victory.

Chris Paulsen, “C&R is glad that the appeals process is finally over and the win was awarded to Dave Steele and Team Six R Racing. The good thing about this is that everything is behind us, with that me as a car builder, Six R and those involved with the USAC Silver Crown Series can move forward. We are looking forward to carrying on with the success of the new series and future wins with our house driver Shane Hmiel.”

Additionally Bruce Ashmore, co-engineer to the new generation C&R Silver Crown chassis added, “We’ve experienced quite a couple of weeks, Chris and I co-designed the car completely within the guidelines of the rule book. It is reassuring to know that an independent panel studied the details of our car and concluded that it complied within the specifications of the rules.” Bruce continues, “Now we can go back to what we are good at. That is to build more winning race cars including the C&R house car that will debut at the Homestead race.”

Four of the twelve in the 2006 Copper World Classic were a C&R chassis. C&R announced the commitment to build the new generation Silver Crown car in September 2005.
