Barrie Speedway announces partnership with NASCAR Nextel Cup's Pocono Raceway!

Barrie Speedway is very proud to announcement a new promotional partnership with Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, the home of a pair of NASCAR Nextel Cup series races.

"Big just doesn't begin to describe this", said Barrie Speedway's Brad Moran. Moran, currently attending Speedweeks in sunny Florida, was clearly elated at the new deal when contacted by phone. "This is huge for the track, but more so for the fan's and the drivers at Barrie Speedway. We're giving away a lot of tickets so a lot of people are going to being seeing a lot of great racing at Pocono Raceway and at Barrie Speedway this summer!"

A lot of tickets indeed as the tracks have teamed up to give away 2 sets of tickets every Saturday night leading up to the June 11 Cup race and 1 set every Saturday night leading up to the second Cup race July 23. Along with special giveaways for our drivers, over 60 tickets will be handed out to fans and drivers.

Pocono Raceway, one of the closest NASCAR NEXTEL Cup venues to Barrie, has long been recognized as one of NASCAR's most competitive raceways. Pocono's unique 2.5 mile track features three turns, each with its own degree of banking.

Plenty more on the way"The Pocono deal is huge for Barrie Speedway, but there's plenty more to come ", states Moran who is himself an ex-racer. "2005 was a milestone year for us - the new track, the huge Canada Day Weekend with the CASCAR Super Series, it's really put us on the map. We've made a lot of noise in Canada and our new partnership with Pocono is a clear indication we're making some noise south of the border as well."

Moran, the driving force behind the speedway's dramatic resurgence since taking the helm in 2001, says the best is yet to come.

"We've got a lot of irons in the fire right now - and we're going to have a lot of fun as we ramp up to our best season ever in 2006. Ours fans and our racers won't want to miss a minute of it."

Of course, BarrieSpeedway.com will have all the breaking news from Ontario's premiere motorsports facility. (end)
