TONY MORRIS JR. WINS NASCC 50th ANNIVERSARY INVITATIONAL at the Rexall Grand Prix

July 22nd, 2007 - Edmonton, Alberta – Tony Morris Jr. held off a very strong field of big horsepower GTP1 cars at the NASCC 50th Anniversary Invitational to win overall for Finning Canada, Maui Jim Sunglasses and Proformance Racing.

‘Our Chevy Monte Carlo ran great and my Crew Chief Norm Olynuk gave me and awesome set up’. Tony inherited the lead on the 2nd lap of the race as Roy Isley from Stony Plain Alberta (on pole in his Derhaag Trans Am Corvette) unfortunately spun in oil at turn 7. Dennis Goruk (who finished 2nd) pressured Tony in his GT1 Corvette for the entire race which was cut short by a full course yellow caused by a 2-car crash at turn 10 late in the 50-minute timed event.

Tony was very thankful to the organizers for their great efforts in putting on this fantastic race. ‘We have been looking forward to another chance to race at a big event since the loss of the SCCBC Invitational at the Vancouver Molson Indy’ said Tony. ‘The Northern Alberta Sports Car Club and its members worked very hard and put on a first class event’ http://edmontonrace.com/

Up next for Tony is a visit to Mission Raceway for another round of the West Coast Sports Car Championship (August 19). Tony is teamed with Steve Paquette in his beautiful MB Euromotors Porsche 911 Twin Turbo with plans to race at the Daytona 24 hrs in 2008.
