Cheap as frites

Peugeot's dinky 107 has never been blessed with gadgets and gizmos galore. So when the French manufacturer announced a 'no frills' version of the much-cloned city car, it left us wondering what frills there were to remove.

peugeot 107 The entry-level Urban Lite is powered by the same one-litre petrol engine as its brethren, which manages 62mpg but tops out at 100mph.

A stripped-down version of the Urban, it keeps electric power steering, airbags, ABS and, erm, that's pretty much it.

The Urban Lite is cheap, though. At just £6,895 for the three-door, it's £500 less than its fractionally more luxurious brother.

Peugeot says that you can add fog lights, parking aids or a rear spoiler at extra cost, but we can't really see why you'd want to. If the best things in life are free, this is the nearest you'll get without the potential for a criminal record.
