By Bruce F. Mehlenbacher, Director of Public Relations

September 2, 2005, Innisfil, ON – In her first year of CASCAR Super Series competition, Tara MacLeod is the 2005 CASCAR PowerWater Rookie of the Year Champion. And as the driver of the #37 Central Merchant Services Ford Taurus, that’s what fans will hear at the driver’s introduction during this weekend’s APC 300 Great Canadian Race Weekend CASCAR Super Series event at Delaware Speedway in London.

MacLeod clinched the championship after starting the last CASCAR Super Series event at Peterborough Speedway.

“I could never have done it without you guys,” she said on her radio after starting the Peterborough event. “This title is extremely important to all of us on the team including Central Merchant Services, we certainly could not ever have done this without them.”

“It’s really hard to believe that only five months ago Kevin Pankow, CEO and President of Central Merchant Services and I talked about this CASCAR Super Series aspiration and now it’s a reality.”

"Everyone at Central Merchant Services is very proud of Tara and her team," stated Kevin Pankow, CEO and President of Central Merchant Services. "She set the team goals and stuck with it and we really like what she stands for on and off of the track. Everyone at Central Merchant Services hopes this is just the beginning of a long and very successful relationship."

The CASCAR Rookie of the Year Championship is sponsored by the PowerWater Corporation a Canadian owned and operated bottled drinking water company. Their premier product, PowerWater, is pure, clean, Oxygenated Distilled Water. Utilizing a Trade Secret Industrial Design, their advanced technology provides consumers with a beverage that quenches thirst while energizing the body.

“We are extremely pleased to have Tara as the PowerWater Rookie of the Year Champion,” explained Terry J. Coughlin, PowerWater President. “She was focused on this target from the very beginning of the season and she and her team knew what it would take. Her objective was to finish every race and the championship would come to her, “ he added. “Tara’s dedication to the series and to her sponsors was endless this season, as she spent precious time with the media promoting the CASCAR Super Series, her sponsor Central Merchant Services, and PowerWater in her race for the championship.”

“I’ve always said, the real work starts once you have a sponsor,” MacLeod went on to say. “The media attention did take a lot of time and work, but that’s a major part of the whole deal. It’s not only great for our team and our sponsor Central Merchant Services, but it is beneficial for CASCAR and the sport we all love. We are pleased to help promote auto racing in this country.”
