CANADIAN SPRINT CAR NATIONALS AT OHSWEKEN TO BE 2006 CLEAN-O WORLD CHALLENGE QUALIFIER

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (September 8, 2005) - The Knoxville Raceway is proud to announce that the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals, to be held on Saturday, September 17, at the Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, will kick-off the series of 2006 Clean-O World Challenge international qualifiers.

The US$5,000-to-win event will qualify Australians, Canadians and New Zealanders for the August 11, 2006, international winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car invitational to be held at Knoxville Raceway during the 46th annual Knoxville Nationals, presented by the Midwest Ford Dealers. Joining Ohsweken in holding 2006 Clean-O World Challenge qualifiers will be the Bay Park and Ruapuna speedways on the north and south islands of New Zealand, respectively, the Sungold Stadium at the Premier Speedway in Australia, and the Budweiser Motorsports Park in western Canada.

According to Knoxville director of racing Ralph “Cappy” Capitani, “We feel that we have established a great relationship with Glenn Styres at Ohsweken, and we are very excited to be partnering with him again on our Clean-O World Challenge qualifying program. Last month we had record Canadian participation in our World Challenge with Ryan Coniam, Jack Pillon, and Cody Geldart. Next year we’d like to double that amount with the support of the Ohsweken Speedway and Rollie Nash’s Bud Park in Edmonton!”

Americans can only qualify for the $10,000-to-win 2006 Clean-O World Challenge by competing at one of three races in Australia and New Zealand. In a new twist for ’06, all international drivers from Australia, Canada, and New Zealand that enter and compete in the 2006 Knoxville Nationals, August 9-12, will be eligible to compete in the 20-lap race. However, only those drivers that run one of the five qualifiers at Ohsweken, Ruapuna, Bay Park, Premier, or Bud Park will be allowed to start in the ‘top sixteen’ fully-inverted portion of the Clean-O World Challenge grid. All others that are eligible for the World Challenge will start straight-up, based on qualifying night points, beginning in position seventeen.
