SALZBURG, Austria — Motorcycle maker
KTM has released new images of its first automobile, the
X-bow roadster, which it plans to unveil at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The images were taken of a 1:2.5 scale model, but the company vows that the final version will look exactly the same. The
roadster concept looks purposeful, edgy and dynamic, like the rally motorbikes
KTM is known for.
Engineers of Italian racing car company Dallara spent more than 100 hours in the wind tunnel honing the final shape,
KTM says.
The
X-Bow will be powered by a five-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engine. The engine has an output of 220 horsepower in basic form, but in the
X-bow it will be tuned to reach 320 hp.
KTM will commission Dallara to build a test run of 100 roadsters before it commits itself to larger-scale production.
