The company earlier this year released an image and preliminary details on the new V70, which goes on sale this fall in North America.A range of five- and six-cylinder gas and diesel engines will be offered in both models. Volvo said a 235-horsepower 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine will be a new option in the V70; it's also expected to be offered in the XC70, the more rugged version of the standard wagon. A high-performance V8 is also rumored.
The new V70 is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor and rides on a longer wheelbase for improved ride comfort. There is more cargo space and a wider tailgate, as well as 40/20/40-split-folding rear seats. The XC70 adds all-wheel drive with higher ground clearance.
