Frankfurt Motor Show 2009: Audi S5 Sportback

In the middle of this year Audi has deduced to the public a stylish four-door hatchback A5 Sportback. Now in Frankfurt debuted all-wheel drive version – S5 Sportback.



S5 Sportback has received 3-litres "six" capacity of 333 horsepowers, developing 440 Nm. The motor turns wheels through familiar robotised box S tronic with two clutches. A drive gear on all wheels constant, interaxle and rear differentials blocked.



These pieces of iron have given the chance to be dispersed to "hundred" for 5,4 seconds. Maximum speed at level of 250 km/h, average fuel consumption – 9,7 litres on one hundred kilometres. The suspender is more rigid, and brakes are more hardy, than at the civil version. The interior too is a little another – the main difference armchair with more developed lateral support. Audi publishes the prices on S5 2010 modelling years

Audi has officially published the prices for cabriolet Audi S5 2010 modelling years. The price of flagman model will make from 42 245 pounds sterlings, including all taxes. That fact is interesting that Audi could not exhaust the leader on roads of road in the summer that is then, cabriolets use the greatest popularity - S5 will arrive in dealer networks not earlier than October.

In the combined cycle, the car consumes 8.1 l/100 of km and produces 224 g СО2/km. The soft top opens for 15 and is closed for 17 seconds.

Motoren Technik Mayer from Wettstetten, Germany, puts the Audi S5 under pressure. As “MTM GT Supercharged” the sporty coupe’s supercharged engine demonstrates impressive performance data. Together with bigger brakes, a coilover suspension and other minor changes, the result is an overall package which can take on the race track.

Curve-hugging and agile
MTM equipped its GT Supercharged with a perfectly tuned coilover suspension and in addition amended the axle geometry with higher camber angles. After the change, its driving dynamism and curve-hugging characteristics are so pronounced you never want to drive straight-ahead again. The steering characteristics are more precise and the agility enhanced, while road handling remains quite neutral.

The small difference
Optically the GT Supercharged does not look very different from the series model. Here MTM has gone in for understatement. Nevertheless – apart from the MTM exhaust system’s pipes – the “bimoto” MTM rims take care of a look clearly distinguished from the series. The eye-catching wheels are available in “shiny silver”, “titanium” and “diamond cut” finishes. MTM provides the “bimoto” rim for the S5 – as for other A5 models too – in 10.5x21” as a complete rim set together with 295/25/ZR21 tires.
